40 years ago, the Alexander L Kielland oil platform suffered a catastrophic structural failure and sunk into the North Sea, with 123 of the crew onboard losing their lives.

 

Today, Dr Edwin France brings his decades of experience in welding engineering to bear on the report into the cause of the collapse, and describes his different conclusions.
